✨NOW ✨ Just when I'd given up trying to think of a clever idea to be my "word of the year" (all the cool kids are doing it!) inspiration struck in the form of a Paramore song. I had to contain my excited dancing because I'm sitting in the corner of a quiet coffee shop, but I knew right away that this was my power word. For a chronic procrastinator and recovering Anxiety Girl like me, NOW is a challenge to be bold: to act NOW, to dream bigger NOW, to build the life I want NOW, to stand up for what I believe in NOW. 2017 is going to be my year, and I'm starting NOW! 💪

Last night was the 5th annual #jadorndesigns holiday party and I had so much fun celebrating the past year with family and friends. 🎉 We mixed, we mingled, we sipped champagne, and we enjoyed lots of beautiful jewelry in the holiday spirit! 💎💕 2016 brought so many new & talented friends into my circle, including this sweet girl @oliviareedphoto who is an intern at @risingtidesociety. It's the final day of the #InstaTideChallenge and what a week it's been! I've loved the chance to share more of my heart as a designer with you all and getting to know other creatives who inspire me. 🌊 One creative who's been in my corner since day one is my pal Mary @hopscotchalk. She's the kind of friend I could talk with for hours about all the things that matter most to me: equality and feminism, living intentionally, spirituality, what it means to be an artist, the importance of cute fuzzy animals, and our shared passions for cartoons and gluten free cooking. 🎨 Mary is also an insanely talented painter, even though she doesn't believe me when I tell her how amazing she is. (Girlfriend has a fine art degree!) She even wears my jewelry and has #jadorndesigns pieces that I made before the official launch of my business! 💎 I've never had a sister, but having her in my life is what I imagine all the best parts of sisterhood being like. 👭 This is one of my favorite photos of us, from @kimhovell's paint night at @risingtidesociety.
If you've met me in real life, chances are you've heard me talk about this guy 🐰 For those who only know me online, meet Mr. Bun! This little guy has been a member of our family for nearly 4 years and he has captured my heart completely. In the time since we adopted him, he's gone from a shy, standoffish pet to a spunky, affectionate, trusting, hilarious little love! Every morning I begin my day by checking emails while he zooms around my feet. He gives me kisses and nuzzles when I'm down and he never lets me forget when lunchtime is (he follows me around until I give him the his salad! 🌿) He's not allowed in my studio because he chews EVERYTHING, but he loves to keep me company while I do office work and we snuggle on the couch most nights. Solopreneurship can be lonely work, but having him to keep me company in my home-office makes it so much easier. 🐾❤️ #InstaTideChallenge

I love the way Margaret paired these pieces with a classic lace gown from their shop's collection. 😍 Saturday is all booked, but appointments are still available for tomorrow & Friday. "From this moment I ordain myself loos'd of limits and imaginary lines." -Walt Whitman 📚 This quote hangs on the wall of my studio right above my jewelry bench, and it's one that has become a sort of mission statement I've adopted for my work & life. A fact about me that only my closest and oldest friends know is that I have been a fearful person for most of my life. From the outside, I was a high achieving perfectionist who was well liked by most people, but on the inside I was crippled by the fear of what would happen if I broke the rules that had been handed to me. It's funny what happens when the rules betray you, though. The economy crashes or you relocate and have to build your life from the ground up again. Maybe your whole worldview falls apart... A series of game-changing events steered my adult life in a risky but beautiful direction. Never in my wildest dreams did I think I'd be a business owner (though I always did secretly want to be an artist)! My life looks a lot messier now than it did before, but it's also rich, creative, and deeply fulfilling. 💙 By throwing off the limits and imaginary lines, I'm growing into the truest version of myself: an artist carving out her own place in the world, one earring at a time. #InstaTideChallenge
NEW HEIRLOOMS 💎 Today at my #jewelersbench I'm beginning work on a commissioned piece that will make a new necklace and bracelet set out of an #heirloom #brooch and beaded necklace. The original pieces belonged to a family member who recently passed on, and the new set will be a surprise gift to her beloved sister this Christmas. These types of projects are my absolute favorite!

This principle of #creative #entrepreneurs working together to elevate each other has made a world of difference in my life & business. Unfortunately, I think the opposite can also be true. Misery loves company and jumping on the negativity bandwagon, whether in conversation, Internet forums, or other environments, only serves to drag us all down. Fellow #creatives, let's work together to keep the tide rising with positivity, empathy, and encouragement. We all know how hard this life can be. For Jill's custom bridal jewelry, I made a slight adjustment to the Laurel Earrings in Gold and Blush from my pre-designed collection. She wanted to incorporate pearls in each piece she wore, so I made her earrings with a freshwater pearl stud instead of the gold lever-back earwires you'll see on the original pair. Wrapping up a custom order of 8 bridesmaids' jewelry gifts in the studio today & I just had to share the adorable gift wrap! 🎁 For custom bridal orders, I always let the client choose a color for their ribbon to match their taste & wedding color palette. I also write & attach each gift tag by hand in my studio, making sure every detail is in place before shipment. I think the personal touches really make a difference!
